Testifying to God’s power to redeem us in times of trouble, this psalm is set to “The Meeting of the Waters.”

O give thanks to the Lord, for God is good
God’s steadfast love endures forever
The redeemed of the Lord, they say it is so
From trouble God will redeem us still
From trouble God will redeem us still

God gathered them in from near and far
From north and south and east and west
Some wandered in deserts, were hungry and thirsty
Souls fainting within for the presence of God
Souls fainting within for the presence of God

Then they cried to the Lord in their time of need,
And God delivered them from their distress,
The thirsty, God will satisfy,
the hungry God will fill with good things
the hungry God will fill with good things

Some sat in darkness, in gloom and in fear
They were prisoners of misery, chained to their grief
For they had rebelled against God Most High
Their hearts were bowed down; there was no one to help (2x)

Then they cried to the Lord in their time of need,
And God delivered them from their distress
God broke their bonds and shattered their chains
And brought them from darkness into the light
And brought them from darkness into the light

Some went down to the mighty waters at sea
And saw God’s wondrous works in the deep
God stirred the wind and lifted the waves
The people’s courage had melted away
The people’s courage had melted away

Then they cried to the Lord in their time of need
And God delivered them from their distress
God said, “Be still,” and hushed the sea
And gave them a quiet haven at last
And gave them a quiet haven at last

O give thanks to the Lord…
